The Glòries works have been, together with those of Sagrera, the most difficult in the city in recent years. They have overcome several obstacles, they have taken too long but, finally, they have left a square that is one of the prides of the city.
The works are finally finished, the Parc de les Glòries looks in all its splendor, with 9 hectares for public use, 30,000 m² of green areas and more than 1,000 new trees planted in the heart of the city.
To celebrate, an inauguration party will be held on April 26 with concerts, workshops, hot chocolate and giant games.
This is what the opening party of Parc de les Glòries will be like.
The party will be on Saturday April 26, from 10:30 to 18:00 h. with all kinds of activities spread over two stages.
The first, under the Umbracle, will be the epicenter of the celebration: morning chocolate, concert by the children’s group Ambauka, swing session, magic show and a musical tribute to Gato Pérez with the band Todos los gatos son pardos to close the day.
The second stage will be in the Àgora Berta Cáceres, and there will take place quieter activities in small format: storytelling, puppets and proposals to enjoy with the family.
In addition, the Clariana, one of the most beloved spaces in the neighborhood, will be filled with giant wooden games and inclusive proposals for children with autism. Between 10:00 and 14:00 h there will also be an “escape street” organized by La Farinera.
These wooden games for autistic people were inaugurated a couple of years ago, and are an example of inclusive games for all types of children.
In addition, spread between Paseo de la Diagonal and Rambla dels Encants, there will be a photo exhibition on the evolution of the Glòries.
Activities at the Disseny Hub, La Farinera…
In addition to the activities in the park, the surrounding facilities also join the party. The Disseny Hub will open its doors for free all day.
On the other hand, there will also be activities organized by La Farinera, the Tram, the Mercat dels Encants or the Miradorde Glòries.
The only thing missing will be the social housing apartments in the Parc, which are about to be finished.
What is the new Parc de les Glòries like?
In this green lung of the city we will find, as new spaces, an Umbracle of almost 700 square meters to organize various events in the shade; the sensory agora Berta Cáceres, with more than 2,500 square meters of multipurpose use surrounded by a crown of giant bamboos; an immersion garden with species adapted to climate change.
In addition, there will be a super children’s play area of almost 2,000 square meters with 35 elements, a sandbox and rest areas; and a water park that will open during the summer months. A new 1,200 square meter dog play area and new biodiversity nodes, flowerbeds and rain gardens will also be incorporated.
