The summer in Barcelona is synonymous with seeking water and refreshment at any cost, either on the beach of Barceloneta or on a getaway. So, nothing like finding a place like the one we tell you about today, a place that looks like something out of a dream, where the photo shows an ancient medieval bridge, a river with crystal clear waters and natural pools perfect for cooling off away from the hustle and bustle.
We are talking about the Pont de Pedret, in the municipality of Cercs, a corner of Berguedà that has become one of the most special (and photogenic) summer getaways in the Catalan hinterland.
Pools of turquoise water under a medieval bridge.

The absolute protagonist is the Llobregat River, which in this stretch forms natural pools of a greenish blue color that seems almost unreal and an environment that conveys peace.
But the other protagonist is the Pont de Pedret, a bridge dating from between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries and was built on even older remains. The pools flow under its asymmetrical arches, turning the landscape into a perfect postcard of history, nature (and bathing).
If you dare to explore a little further, you can climb up to the church of Sant Quirze de Pedret, located on top of a nearby hill. It is a recently restored pre-Romanesque building with murals and history on all four sides.
How to get to Pont de Pedret
From Barcelona, the most direct way to get there is by the C-16 towards Berga. Once there, just follow the signs to Pedret and park near the bridge. From the parking lot, there is a short walk that takes you directly to the pools.
Another more adventurous (and highly recommended) option is to get there on foot or by bike along the Llobregat Greenway, which starts at Cal Rosal. The path crosses old railway lines and runs along the river, making the journey part of the experience. It is suitable for all ages and levels, ideal for families, couples or friends.
