Each neighborhood has its own festival, but few are as emblematic as the one celebrated every October in La Rambla. Since 1961, the Festa del Roser turns Barcelona’s most famous promenade into a burst of flowers, music, culture and neighborhood life.
This year, the event will be held from October 4 to 12, with a program full of free proposals for all ages.
Carpets of flowers and concerts in the middle of the Rambla
One of the most anticipated moments of the Festa del Roser are the floral decorations that adorn different parts of the Rambla. Businesses, institutions and neighbors are responsible for dressing colorful places as recognized as Las Golondrinas, the Garage Atarazanas, the Arts Santa Monica, the Wax Museum, the Poliorama Theater or the Palau de la Virreina, which will be filled with flowers with the action “A flower, a desig”.
The program combines music, dance and tradition with family proposals. Among this year’s highlights are the concert of the Tablao Flamenco Cordobés, which celebrates its 55th anniversary, and the performance of the group Amateur at the Teatrino of the Conservatori del Liceu.
The little ones will be able to enjoy shows such as the Colla Patapum at the Maritime Museum, as well as floral art workshops at the Boqueria and a fun zumba class organized by CEM Colom.
Open doors in the main buildings of Las Ramblas
The Festa del Roser is also an opportunity to (re)discover some of the most special corners of the city. There will be free guided tours to the Aquàrium, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Military Government, the Institut d’Estudis Catalans, Las Golondrinas, the Maritime Museum or the Palau Güell, among others.
Of course: to participate, it is necessary to register in advance on the website of Amics de la Rambla, where you can see the complete program.
