Rosalía has a superpower that goes beyond the Grammys: the place she steps on, the place she turns into an object of desire. Although her life is now spent between airplanes and international studies, the girl from Sant Esteve Sesrovires has never hidden the fact that her emotional (and gastronomic) compass always points to Barcelona, turning everything she touches into gold (as it happened with the Pollo omelette).
This week, the “Motomami” has once again acted as the city’s gastronomic ambassador, making her presence felt in two local temples that represent the two sides of the Barcelona coin: the imperturbable tradition and the most effervescent modernity.
A trip to the Barcelona of yesteryear in the 21st century
The big surprise came in the heart of the Gòtic. The clients of the Bodega La Palma, located at number 7 Carrer de la Palma in Sant Just, could not believe their eyes when they saw the artist appear. Far from the exclusive reservations in restaurants with three Michelin stars, Rosalía opted for this corner with tradition founded in 1935. The restaurant’s own team shared their enthusiasm on social networks with a photo that is already the history of the establishment, highlighting the closeness of an artist who, despite her fame, continues to seek the taste of authenticity.
Entering Bodega La Palma is, literally, going back almost a century. The place preserves the essence of the old grocery stores where wine and oil were sold in bulk. Its high ceilings, its wooden beams and those barrels that guard the space are the perfect refuge for those who flee from the “tourist” places that sometimes plague the center. Everything on the menu is quite decent, and the ensaladilla, some stews and preserves are important .
If you go there, by the way, you can have a vermouth there to end up having dinner at La Palma de Bellafilla, one of the best restaurants in Barcelona, in our humble opinion. We tell you why here.
The obligatory stop at the phenomenon “Bocata”.
But the route did not end in classicism. The singer also dropped by Bar Bocata, one of the epicenters of the current trend in Barcelona. If the Bodega La Palma represents the heritage, the Bocata is the most vibrant present. The local has carved a niche in the urban agenda thanks to a simple but infallible proposal: signature sandwiches with top quality product and an aesthetic that Instagram falls in love with.
The artist’s presence was immortalized in a video where she was seen fully integrated in the relaxed atmosphere of the local, even wearing the already famous sticker of the bar. This double choice proves that the singer’s radar is still perfectly calibrated, jumping from the wooden stools of a historic bodega to the energy of new projects that are redefining leisure in the city. Once again, Rosalía has made a statement: Barcelona is eaten in bites, whether they are traditional or fresh from the oven.
