August is coming to an end in a matter of days, and with it go the vacations, the getaways, the impromptu plans, staying out until the wee hours… or not. September is the new August—and not just because of the heat, but also because it’s becoming more and more common to make plans for a month that’s always been associated with getting back into the routine.
Among these plans, there’s one that never disappoints: a great town festival. Concerts, parades, outdoor dining, mobile dance parties, fireworks… and that warm, friendly atmosphere that brings back memories of childhood. If reading this has made you feel nostalgic, you’re in luck, because the Fiestas Mayores in Sant Andreu de la Barca kick off in just over a week with all of this—plus an amazing lineup.
From Friday, September 4, through Monday, September 7, this town in the Baix Llobregat region celebrates its annual festival with more than 40 activities scheduled for all ages and a performance by Chenoa as the main musical attraction. She won’t be the only guest star at the festivities; the legendary hard rock and heavy metal band Obús will also headline the fourth edition of ErmitaRock.

By the way, if you’re more into a relaxing getaway in nature, Sant Andreu de la Barca is home to one of the most impressive natural pools in all of Catalonia:the Poza de la Mola, less than an hour from Barcelona. Getting there by car is very easy (via the A-2), but you can also reach it by public transit on lines R5, R6, S4, and S8.
