Barcelona has from today 4 new points to play with water this summer. L’Ajuntament de Barcelona has announced this Wednesday the opening of 4 new fountains in Casa de l’Aigua de Trinitat Vella, Jardines de Sant Joan de Déu (Les Corts), Plaça de les Glòries and Plaça del Maresme (Sant Martí district).
In total, there are now 8 water points in the city where children and adults can cool off during the summer. This initiative is part of the city’s Climate Plan, which also takes into account the extension of more shaded areas and trees in the city or the design of climatic shelters in episodes of high temperatures such as heat waves.
These fountains dedicated mainly to water play are added to those already existing in Canyelles, the Parc de les Rieres d’Horta, the Bon Pastor and the Canòdrom Meridiana.

All the spaces are equipped with a system that guarantees responsible water use. They operate by means of a push button that prevents the start of a new cycle until the previous one is finished.
They will be in operation until September in two time slots: from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
But do not forget that it is forbidden to bathe in ornamental fountains, which are not designed for that use. As an alternative, citizens have more than 1,740 drinking fountains distributed throughout the city, recalls the council in a statement. Their location can be consulted through the free application Fonts BCN or in the app “Barcelona a la butxaca”.
