After hosting the start of La Vuelta 2023 and waiting for the Grand Départ of the Tour de France 2026, Barcelona has now announced a new cycling milestone in the city: the start of the first stage of the Women’s Tour of 2025.
It will be next May 4, when the city will host the first stage of the third edition of La Vuelta Ciclista Femenina 2025, an event that will bring together the best cyclists in the world in a competition that will cross emblematic places of the city.
The agreement was made official today by the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, and the general director of Unipublic, organizer of La Vuelta Femenina, Javier Guillén.
At the moment, there are no further details about the location or the route that this first stage will take through Barcelona, and then travel through different parts of the country until May 10.
This new event adds to the bet that Collboni’s government has made to host new sporting events in the city in the midst of controversy over the tourist overcrowding of the city. Recently, Barcelona hosted the start of La Vuelta 2023 and has been designated to host the Grand Départ of the Tour de France 2026, in addition to regularly receiving La Volta Ciclista a Catalunya.
