Last year, with the arrival of summer, the Government announced a measure to allow young people between 18 and 30 years of age to travel during the months of June, July and August, with large discounts (up to 90%) in interrail the company also operates medium distance trains, long distance trains and state bus lines.
This measure, called “Verano Joven”, was a huge success at the national level and more than 1.13 million young people traveled for Spain and Europe with these discounts. As summer approaches, and with the getaway and vacation plans the question on many of our minds was: when will the discounts return in 2024?
Apparently, the answer is yes, as announced by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, which has already explained in a press conference all the details of Young Summer 2024.
Young Summer 2024 dates: when you can travel and claim discounts
The bonuses will be applied to the price of single or round-trip tickets dated for travel between July 1 and September 30, 2024.
Discounts can be requested starting June 15, at which time the Ministry of Transportation’s web page will be available for registration and identification.
who can benefit?
The discount applies to young people born between 1994 and 2006.
how to apply for the discount?
As we said, in order to apply for these discounts it will be essential to have been born between January 1, 1994 and December 31, 2006, i.e., to be between 18 and 30 years old. In addition, it will be necessary either to have Spanish nationality, or to have nationality of an EU country with legal residence in Spain.
Although registrations are not yet open, to apply for the discount, the same procedure as last year must be followed: register through a Mitma (Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda) form and do so at least 24 hours before making the first purchase in order to verify that the applicant meets the requirements. This will provide you with a personal, non-transferable Registration Code that can be used to purchase discounted tickets.
what types of discounts are available?
Although the specific discounts for this edition have not yet been confirmed, we already know that they will be similar to last year’s, which were as follows:
- For conventional medium distance and metric gauge network services: 90% discount on the price of single and round trip tickets.
