It has taken more than a year, but the change is here. The single magnetic ticket will change from today and progressively its use in the metro, bus and Rodalies of Barcelona, with its definitive integration in the T-mobilitat system, contactless cards.
Until now it was the only ticket that still worked with the old format and from now on it will have to be recharged at the machines of the Barcelona metro or Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) in the case of Rodalies, with a new cardboard support.
From this Wednesday in some FGC stations it will already be possible to request this new format, which will allow to load other titles once exhausted.
It should be remembered that each service operator, whether metro, bus or Rodalies, has its own single ticket, so it will be necessary to collect it in each of the stations of the network to be used.
The Autoritat del Transport Metropolità has detailed that this single ticket can already be charged in T-mobilitat plastic card in the case of those users who already have one. Otherwise, they will have to pay 1 euro for the issuance of the cardboard card, which can then be reused.
This will be the definitive farewell to magnetic fare cards, and the transition is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 in FGC, Tram and TMB.
