When the heat gets hot in Barcelona, everyone dreams of a refreshing dip. What if you discover a place halfway between a public swimming pool and a beach, but without sand? A place where sea and cement merge to create the Fòrum pools, a corner of the city that you might not have considered until now.
These seawater pools, located in the Forum, are a safe bet for those looking for an alternative to the crowded beaches of Barcelona. Fewer people, more space and an environment adapted to all types of visitors make this place an ideal refuge to enjoy the summer.
A corner of seawater in the heart of Barcelona
The Fòrum bathing area, located in Barcelona’s Moll de la Vella, is a free public space that offers a unique alternative to traditional beaches.
With a length of 375 meters and a width of 30 meters, this area allows for regular activities such as sunbathing or swimming, although without sand: access to the water is from paved surfaces via stairs.
The enclosure is adapted for people with disabilities, including a specific area with bathing aids and hydraulic chairs to facilitate entry and exit from the water.
It also has life-saving and lifeguard facilities, public toilets and an environmental information point , which has been operational since June 1.
Special caution is recommended when accessing the water, use only the authorized areas and follow the indications of the information signs and the public address system. It should be noted the presence of a colony of hedgehogs, so it is advisable to wear appropriate footwear to avoid punctures.
We can define it as a space, unconventional, but accessible and quiet if we compare it with other beaches in the city.
