When heat and humidity come together in Barcelona , the city becomes a hive of activity. At these times, more than ever, it is important to hydrate and avoid exposure to the sun during the hottest hours of the day.
Therefore, one of the best options to cope with the scorching heat is to cool off by taking a dip. And, as sometimes going to the beach is not an option, either because it is too far from home, you do not like the sand or you prefer to go to less crowded and quieter places, we propose an alternative: go to one of the 14 municipal swimming pools that the city has .
Barcelona has about forty Centres Esportius Municipals (CEM), which are municipal sports facilities that you can access by paying a fee or a one-time entrance fee. Some of them have swimming pools and during the summer season they open their doors so that we can take refuge from the heat.
Most of the municipal swimming pools that open in summer belong to a CEM, although not all of them, as is the case of the Llac del Parc de la Creueta del Coll. In addition, from this year, it will no longer be forbidden to go topless or to wear a full bathing suit, since prohibiting both is considered a discriminatory measure.

Natural pools near Barcelona
Man does not live by municipal swimming pools alone. In Barcelona there are also some pools of private sports clubs that you can visit by paying a small daytime entrance fee (or getting an invitation from a colleague). The other option is to visit some of the beautiful natural pools near the city to cool off in nature.
