Few things are more primitive than the instinctive attraction that we have for grilled food the smell of fire, which makes us raise our noses and turn our heads to where we perceive the smell of fire. So if your feet are inadvertently heading towards the harbor this weekend, it’s because your nose has probably caught the scent of Meat & Fire, the city’s big ember festival.
From June 7 to 9 at the Moll de la Fusta, in the Port Vell of Barcelona, 40 barbecues representing some of the best restaurants in the city … and the world.
This year’s lineup includes some of the world’s best steak and grill chefs, such as Argentina’s Pablo Rivero of Don Julio, the top restaurant on the 101 Best Steak Restaurant 2024 list, Japan’s Hideki Matsuhisa of KOY Shunka and SAGARDI’s Basque chefs, Rafa Zafra with his Rural Meat Project, Genevieve Taylor, a London fire expert and fervent advocate of conscious consumption, is one of them. Paloma Ortiz, born in Mexico and precursor of the flavors of her country of origin.
One of the highlights of the festival are the talks with experts in the art of grilling. These sessions are designed for visitors to learn new culinary techniques, discover the secrets of the grill and improve their cooking skills. Finally, Meat & Fire also features live musical performances, providing an excellent opportunity to enjoy the music and festive atmosphere of the event. Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of musical styles.
