The Barcelona City Council will promote a change in the regulations to prohibit the display of offensive tourist products. This has been determined by the Comissió d’Economia i Hisenda, which has approved a proposal by ERC to avoid the proliferation in areas of the city such as Ciutat Vella of this type of elements.
Thus, souvenirs that are considered homophobic or sexist will be banned as they are considered that “degrade the image” of the city.
Some of the examples of “offensive” souvenirs that have been posted are the penises stamped with the Barcelona brand, which are abundant in the Ramblas the T-shirts with sexist messages or homophobic or simply other types of comments that may devalue the Barcelona brand.
