With the arrival of good weather, astronomical phenomena happen, and the next one that can be seen from the sky of Barcelona will take place this coming Friday. The “Honeymoon” will be observed during 3 days in Spain, being the dawn of Friday June 21 to Saturday June 22 its point of greatest visibility and splendor.
This phenomenon, which is one of those popularly known as “Supermoons”, is due to the proximity of the moon to the Earth at certain times of the year. The name “honey” or “strawberry”, as this event is usually called, is due to the fact that the satellite takes on a more orange or reddish color at this time of the year.
Another explanation is because of its proximity in time to the honey harvest season, but it has nothing to do with the marriage tradition of taking a trip after the wedding.
This Supermoon is scheduled to be seen at its brightest at 03:08 hours on Saturday, June 22. It will be visible to the naked eye, but for a better view, we recommend points of low light pollution, such as some of the following beaches of Barcelona or mountainous areas far from the center of the Catalan capital.
