Summers in Barcelona have become an endless déjà vu: red alerts, heat waves, and record-breaking temperatures that come one after another—and if it weren’t for the fact that we feel the consequences every time we step outside, we’d think they no longer mean anything. But the sad reality is that we remain caught in a spiral of ever-rising temperatures, and this year we’ve recorded the highest temperatures of the past century.
A spiral that forces us to constantly search for places to escape the heat and to find increasingly creative ways to stay cool and hydrated. And among all the possibilities, there’s one that’s little known and hidden away in one of Barcelona’s most iconic spots: Tibidabo Beach.
Although it may seem counterintuitive, this beach is located more than 500 meters above sea level, at the highest point in Barcelona. It’s a free spot in the Tibidabo Panoramic Area that you can reach simply by following the Camí del Cel trail, next to the Beyond attraction.
It’s an area equipped with water fountains and interactive water jets combined with lights, sounds, and colors. A recreational area that opened in 2017 but has been transformed into an artificial beach thanks to the sandy areas, lounge chairs, and umbrellas added this summer.
The park’s “Bombers” team has also joined in—an entertainment group that roams the grounds, spraying water to cool off visitors. Admission is completely free, but access is limited to the park’s opening hours: from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. throughout the month of August.
A summer full of new attractions at Tibidabo
The amusement park turns 125 in 2026, and the Barcelona City Council wanted to celebrate by revamping its offerings with improved attractions and adding new children’s shows such as *La volta al món ballant* and *Cabrioles de Fil*.
Throughout the month of August, starting at 9:30 p.m., you can once again enjoy the Laser Show, an immersive musical spectacle suitable for all ages. In addition, the culinary offerings at the Masía Tibidabo restaurant have been revamped to round out the experience with top-notch cuisine.
