The escudella de galets is one of those dishes to eat at home and with the family, if possible. But as a good traditional dish, it is always a good idea to eat it in one of those traditional restaurants where the stoves ooze experience.
Now that the cold weather is coming, here are some of the best options to enjoy a good escudella in Barcelona:
Fermí Puig
At Fermí Puig escudella arrives as soon as the cold arrives. It is served, as it could not be otherwise, with galets and pilota (those meatballs cooked in the broth and made with pork, wet bread and egg), although it can also be ordered with carn d’olla. You can even order to take away. And the broth, pure flavor and just the right amount of density, is made with pork, chicken and beef.

Land of Escudella
In this temple of Catalan cuisine, where they have all the typical dishes you can imagine, they serve menus for 10.50 euros on weekdays and 13.30 on Saturdays. Fridays when it is the turn of l’escudella.
Carrer de Premià, 20
Antigua
The wonderful surprise we got in Antigua was when we discovered that here the classic escudella consommé is accompanied by galets stuffed with pilota and foie. A small derivation of the traditional recipe that completes it even more and is perfect for it.
Carrer de Marià Cubí, 59
Ca l’Estevet
To speak of Ca l’Estevet is to speak of one of the most mythical restaurants in Barcelona, one of those that have already celebrated their centenary. Located in the Raval, here l’escudella is served on Wednesdays when the cold weather arrives and it is not easy to find a place. Included in a menu with wine and dessert. Irresistible.
📍 Carrer de Valldonzella, 46
Can Culleretes
This is a big deal. We are talking about the oldest restaurant in Catalonia (the second oldest in Spain), standing since 1786. Ojo. A traditional Catalan restaurant with such longevity and prestige offers, of course, one of the best escudellas in Barcelona.
