This year, 2024, marks five years since the LGTBI Center of Barcelona was put into operation. After five years of direct attention, guidance, awareness and community action around sexual and gender diversity, this May 18th the LGTBI Center of Barcelona celebrates its fifth anniversary with a free ticket party full of shows, activities and lots of music.
This event, which will take place as part of the International Day against LGTBI-phobia will be divided between two spaces.
The first part will take place at the headquarters of the entity (Calle Comte Borrell, 22) and in front of it, in Comte Borrell street, between Parlament and Marqués de Campo Sagrado streets. The second part of the party will move, for the first time, to a large stage in Plaza Catalunya and will last until midnight.
Morning activities
During the morning, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., the first part of the party will take place, which will be aimed at all audiences and will be divided between the LGTBI Center and Comte Borrell street. Some of the activities that will take place in the street will be the special talk show by Kobra Kuir or the theater show “Free fall for people with vertigo”, by the company Bragacadavra.
In addition, there will be an art market curated by Andreu Llorca, where you can find jewelry, ceramics, textiles, illustrations and other works. Petita Arcàdia will offer a space for care and games for children missex will provide the music with a cumbia session.
In parallel, the LGTBI Center will have its own Program among which we highlight activities such as the children’s storytelling workshop by Sara Manubens, the tarot workshop “The language of birds” by Lu Chieregati or the audiovisual installation “A world that is not ours” by Palestinian artist Maria Zreiq, which addresses issues of memory, nostalgia and resistance in times of social and political revolthe audiovisual installation “A world that is not ours” by Palestinian artist Maria Zreiq, which addresses issues of memory, nostalgia and resistance in times of social and political revolt.
Great evening party in Plaza Catalunya
Starting at 6 p.m. in the evening, and for the first time, the party will move to Plaza Catalunya, where a large outdoor stage will be set up to host various musical performances.
Some of them will be the performances of the Orchestra Barcelona Rainbow Singers and the Orchestra Barcelona Gay Men’s Chorus or the show of LLUM with a mix of experimental pop, underground electronica, dark techno and breakcore.
To finish, until midnight, there will be a series of DJ sets by Chico Blanco, Oro Jondo and Deena Abdelwahed, all of them with novel musical proposals starring electronic music with diverse influences.
