When heat and humidity combine in Barcelona , the city becomes a sweltering place. Right now, more than ever, it’s important to stay hydrated and avoid being out in the sun during the hottest hours of the day.
That’s why one of the best ways to beat the scorching heat is to cool off with a dip.And since going to the beach isn’t always an option—whether it’s too far from home, you don’t like the sand, or you prefer less crowded, quieter spots—we suggest an alternative: visiting one of the city’s 14 public pools.
Llac del Parc de la Creueta del Coll.
Barcelona has around forty Centres Esportius Municipals (CEM), which are municipal sports facilities you can access by paying a membership fee or a one-time admission fee. Some of them have swimming pools and open their doors during the summer season so we can escape the heat.
Most of the municipal pools that open in the summer belong to a CEM, though not all of them—such as the Llac del Parc de la Creueta del Coll. Additionally, starting this year, it will no longer be prohibited to go topless orwear a one-piece swimsuit, as banning both is considered a discriminatory measure.
