Leonardo Versus Michelangelo: The immersive challenge
Given the choice, who would you choose, Leonardo Da Vinci or Michelangelo? You can’t say “both” in this immersive experience in which the viewer is the center and must vote for his or her favorite. The exhibition, very new, is an exciting journey through the life and work of these two great geniuses of the Renaissance thanks to VR, immersive digital art room and more.

La Mercè Festival

For many, La Mercè is the most important festival in Barcelona. The city fills up with people, music and all kinds of activities that turn it into an (almost) endless party for a few days. This year there will be many concerts and multiple initiatives for all ages. Artists such as Mushka, Rigoberta Bandini, Queralt Lahoz, Ladilla Rusa or Figa Flawas, among many others, will perform; and there will be iconic activities such as the Piromusical and cultural activities such as the Setmana del Llibre en Català.

Bresh XL at Apolo
The great viral Argentine party returns to Barcelona in XL format: on September 10 the BRESH takes the Sala Apolo upstairs and downstairs, with a single ticket to go through the two tracks between Argentine hits, pink color and cowgirl hats.

Titanic: The Official Exhibition
The official exhibition of the Titanic is the best way to enjoy this historic event, with 200 original objects rescued from the wreck that tell us stories of the crew and the voyage. The most awaited event for reading lovers: this year 312 exhibitors are expected to fill the Paseo Lluís Companys so that we can enjoy literary novelties, classics and have the opportunity to meet our favorite authors. Last weeks of Universo Goya: Between Light and Darkness
September is the last month to enjoy this immersive exhibition. So if you haven’t been there yet, run before it closes. Universo Goya is a tribute to the great Aragonese painter, through a historical journey that includes objects from the period, digital art, a painting by the master, 30 original engravings (and even the press he used to reproduce them), immersive film and VR.

Petra: the glory of the Nabataeans
Traveling to Jordan to see the city of Petra has to be a dream… but it may be out of our pockets. Electronic at laMercedes: Amelie Lens and Solomun
There is a new stage for concerts in the city. The former Mercedes-Benz factory, located in the district of Sant Andreu, reopens as a dance floor renamed laMercedes. The first night, the grand opening, will take place on September 13 with Solomun, who will implode the place with his deephouse. He will be followed on September 21 by Amelie Lens and her overwhelming dark techno. The evenings will kick off at 4pm with a line up of DJs to be confirmed who will complete two sessions until dawn.

SENSAS

See a premiere or a classic in the best movie theater in Europe (before it closes)
In Barcelona we are lucky to have many movie theaters but there is one that takes the cake: the Sala Phenomena Experience, which has just been recognized as the best cinema in Europe by the Associazione Nazionale Autori Cinematografici (ANAC), an award presented at the Venice Film Festival. A visit to Phenomena is not only a guarantee to see recent releases in the best image and sound conditions, but also to enjoy classics of the Seventh Art on the big screen. For example, this month alone there are screenings of blockbusters such as Porco Rosso, In The Mood For Love, Conan the Barbarian, Taxi Driver, Gone with the Wind and Jaws, among many others.
Of course, you have to hurry, as they have just announced that they will be closing their doors on September 15. It is not a definitive closure, but a see you later, as Phenomena is scheduled to return in 2026 with changes that have yet to be announced.

Femiñetas Festival
The collective femiñetas is now celebrating its first festival, a day about printed art, self-publishing and graphic culture, all from a female perspective. Prominent artists such as Flavita Banana, Rocío Quillahuaman and Carlota Juncosa will give talks and workshops. In addition, we will be able to buy creations of up to 75 artists who will be exhibiting and enjoy live radio and live music.

Extreme Barcelona

Extreme Barcelona turns Parc del Fòrum into an urban festival where BMX, trampoline and street art merge with the sea in the background. The best national riders will compete in the Spanish BMX Park Championship (male, female and junior categories), while the international elites will play for Olympic points in the UCI C1 competitions. And to top it all off, the spectacle of the Freestyle Trampoline World Championship lands for the second consecutive year.

Bunker Confidential
The irreverent Jair Domínguez, Neus Rossell and Peyu will make a series of live episodes of their popular podcast that tells with a lot of humor and bad blood the life of famous people. Brasa y Fuego

This iconic festival in Barcelona is back, 100% dedicated to the Argentine barbecue. In addition to delicious grilled meat, there will be all the country’s specialties such as dulce de leche, wines, alfajores, Argentine ice cream, sweets, yerba mate, mates and much more. The party is complemented with DJs and live music and is pet-friendly.

Antoni Vila Casas Painting Award
This exhibition shows all the finalist works of this competition, 29, selected from more than 500 proposals. It is a way to discover new figures of contemporary art. Wodcelona
Wodcelona is just a CrossFit competition: it is a non-profit festival where anyone can participate, either in individual category, team or in one of the 15 adaptive, designed for people with different abilities. George Cukor Cycle
This month the “Filmo” has great cycles dedicated to particular genres or directors, but if we have to choose one we will choose this great director of the golden age of Hollywood. Korean Film Festival
Korean cinema is one of the most interesting filmographies in Asia, and in Barcelona we have a festival entirely dedicated to it. Five days to enjoy recently released South Korean films, such as Boy In The Pool, The Ghost Game or Escape, and contemporary classics like The Good, The Bad, And The Weird ( 2008), by Kim Jee-woon, one of the most celebrated directors of this country. In addition, the festival will feature parallel activities such as workshops and exhibitions.

L’Hora del Jazz Festival – Memorial Tete Montoliu
L’Hora del Jazz, dedicated to our most international pianist, is now in its 35th edition, bringing jazz to all audiences. With a decentralized program (in addition to Barcelona, concerts can be enjoyed in other towns such as Sitges, Granollers or Rubí), the good thing is that all free activities will be held in Barcelona. Thus, in this edition, in Vila de Gràcia we will be able to enjoy the performances of Laura Milazzo Sextet, Diana Palau Quartet or Lluc Casares Sextet, among other groups.

Barcelona Galery Weekend

This initiative, now in its eleventh edition, aims to bring art to all audiences, offering a varied program in alternative galleries in the city, beyond the museums we all know. Dinner by starlight at Observatori Fabra

The Observatori Fabra, located in Tibidabo, offers a plan to enjoy the nights of Barcelona: a succulent dinner, accompanied by a half-hour scientific conference where you can ask questions. Art and good music to start the weekend on the right foot. This is the proposal of MEAM for every Friday of the month, a cycle in which we can enjoy the blues and derivatives of four bands of proven quality: Angue & Her Hot Jazz Trio, Txus Blues & Cesar Canut, Frank Barnes Trio and Les Enfants Terribles. The concert includes a beer, and before or after, with the same ticket, we can visit the museum, full of works of modern and contemporary art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
