One thing we Barcelonians often hear is that we don’t have enough Verde zones. And, although it is true that we cannot compare the Parc de la Ciutadella with the Retiro, it is not fair to say that we do not have dream gardens.
Therefore, we have selected some of the most magical gardens in the city so you can go for a walk, take refuge from the heat and enjoy a small oasis of nature in the city.
do you all know them?
Tamarita Gardens
We do not include it in our ranking of the most romantic places in Barcelona to have a date they look like something out of a Disney movie about princesses and dragons.
These gardens in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi were once a private garden and to isolate it from the outside a stone and iron wall was built to give an even more magical touch to the enclosure. Inside you will find ponds with fountains, terracotta figures and marble and ceramic fountains. Ideal to spend a dreamy afternoon.

Joan Maragall Gardens
When you walk through these gardens of Montjuïc you have the feeling of walking through a majestic place, as if you had climbed into a time machine and were suddenly a noble king of the nineteenth century. This has an explanation, and it is that the Jardins de Joan Maragall were built by King Alfonso XIII on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition of 1929. They surround the Palauet Albèniz, where the Royal Family stays when visiting Barcelona.
av. de l’Estadi, 69
Laribal Gardens
Also in Montjuïc and also built for the same reason as the previous ones, the Universal Exposition of Barcelona in 1929. It is recognized by the cypress gardens or statues such as The Girl with the Braid or Estival.
It is the first public rose garden to be built in Barcelona and has a fountain whose water cascades down a waterfall that looks like something out of a fairy tale.

Gardens of Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer
Located between the Montjuïc funicular railway and the Jardins de Joan Brossa, they are considered to be one of the most beautiful gardens in Barcelona. They are dedicated to the Catalan poet Jacint Verdaguer, who composed these sad verses: “Amb cent corones de flors te’n veig anar d’esta vida: tu te’n vas amb cent, de flors: jo quedo amb una, i d’espines”.
Not only will we be able to enjoy a small oasis of peace and nature in the middle of the city, but we will also be able to see the sea and a panoramic view of Barcelona only.
📍 Avinguda Miramar, 30
Joan Brossa Gardens
The Jardins de Joan Brossa were inaugurated in 2003 on a large part of the grounds of the former montjuïc amusement park. Lush Mediterranean vegetation covers the grounds, providing us with shaded areas ideal for resting and relaxing we touch the air in these hot days.
The gardens are full of sculptures, which makes them the perfect excuse to mix an artistic and cultural visit with a leisure and relaxation plan. In addition, although they are not strictly part of the gardens, there is a small kiosk with a terrace where we can sit and have a refreshing drink.
📍 Plaça de Dante, 9
Finca Güell Pavilions
This series of landscaped buildings is one of Gaudí’s lesser-known works, but no less impressive for that. If Daenerys Targaryen lived in Barcelona, she would do it here, as the dragons guarding the gates are quite scary. These mythological beings are in charge of guarding the garden of the Hesperides, the garden with the golden apples that made those who ate them immortal.
It can only be visited during the weekend and the visit is totally worth it, as the garden is full of sculptures that make reference to classical mythology. The mix between Gaudi’s modernist architecture and references to Ancient Greece make it a magical place away from the city center and overcrowding. It is ideal to go and spend the late to read that great work of world literature that you have been putting off for a long time.

Historical Botanical Garden of Barcelona
We could not conclude this list without talking about them, as they are home to an immense variety of vegetation from the Mediterráneo, the Pyrenees and other more exotic areas.
Its location is ideal for the development of some Eurosiberian species, for example, since it is located behind the MNAC in a shaded area that is usually four degrees below the general temperature of Montjuïc. Undoubtedly some gardens that every Barcelonian has to visit sometime in his life, especially for the large number of plant species that are not found elsewhere in the city.
