The sant Joan’s Coco is the cherry on top of the verbena. After the firecrackers, the bridge, the Flama del Canigó and the (usually) uncontrolled party of the shortest night of the year, nothing like a piece of coca de Sant Joan to cure the soul already purified by the bonfires and revive now that the nights begin to lengthen.
Like everything else, Coco is becoming more and more sophisticated. Forget the simple flavored brioche, now, from the Iberian ham cake of l’Atelier to the delicate brioche filled with Rocambolesc here, fantasy reigns to the point of turning the experience into a small and sweet gastronomic journey. But as it is difficult to choose, we show you some of the best cocas in the world Sant Joan 2024 we have tested so that you have where to choose your perfect coke.
L’Atelier: Serrano ham coke
The first is Coca Llaminera: a collaboration with Ramos Boqueria, the famous charcuterie that, from La Boqueria Market, serves Iberian products of the highest quality on the tables of the world. This coca is a puff pastry made in a special way with Iberian fat, pine nuts and slices of Iberian Jabugo ham with 48 months of maturation.
The second is the Coca Reus 4.0, which combines two L’Atelier Barcelona awards in a single dessert. Made with the dough of the Best Chocolate Panettone of Spain 2022, it is filled with hazelnut cream and salted caramel, two elements of the cookie that gives it its name and was winner of the title Best Artisan Tea Pastry of Spain 2019.

Oriol Carrió: the traditional coke
The two best cocas of Barcelona
The Forn Gil , in the district of Sant Martí, was the winner of the category of coca de chocolate, which mainly highlighted its combination of masses and the fact of being a brownie coca, with a very balanced flavor and a very attractive appearance.
For its part, in the category of creative coca, the prize went to Nova Brunells , from Ciutat Vella. This renowned Barcelona pastry shop managed to surprise, with the originality of the shape and the use of fruits as protagonists, all members of the jury, who were unanimously convinced of its success.

Pasté: Sant Joan coca cheesecake
Sant Joan Coca Cheesecake. This dessert combines the best of Catalan traditions with our passion for cheesecakes. The Tarta de Coca de Sant Joan is inspired by the traditional coca de Sant Joan (in this case, it is made by Pastisseria Sant Llehí in Cardedeu), a brioche flavored with lemon, orange and cinnamon, filled with cream and topped with pine nuts. Ricobecause the taste of coca de Sant Joan is unmistakable and the cheesecake flavor is also unmistakable, a perfect fusion.
