The perfect beach for dogs because it is better for dogs than for people. A small beach lacking services with an orientation that does not help sunbathing, but it is perfect to take dogs to bathe in it.

It is in Sitges, half an hour from Barcelona, near the cement plant, and is reached by following the old road to Castelldefels. In addition, it is in the Natural Park of Garraf, so you can also crown the day with a walk in the park.

Platja de Llevant, in Barcelona

Barcelona’s dog beach has been a resounding success since it opened a few years ago. A kennel of 1,250 m² with a maximum capacity of 100 dogs where in August even queues form.

Animals entering the area must have an identification chip. Not to worry, as in previous years, studies have been made of water and sand quality and cleanliness and nothing alarming has been detected as far as health is concerned.

In any case, out of high season, that is, from October to April, dogs can access any beach without time limitation except Easter.

This 1.000m2 dog area is located between Vandellòs and Tamarit streets, in Gavà. Undoubtedly, this is one of the most comfortable beaches to go with our animals, as it has showers, well, rather hoses, to remove the sand before getting home.

In addition, it has a capacity for 100 people and 75 dogs, so you can enjoy a large space without being too tight.

Platja de Les Salines, in Cubelles

During the summer months, near the thermal power plant of Cubelles, an area for dogs is enabled on the beach of Les Salines.

It is a stretch of more than 450 meters long of sand and gravel, ideal for playing and bathing with your dog quietly without having to worry about space.

Platja de la Picòrdia, Arenys de Mar

This is a spectacular pet friendly beach where there is a space enabled for dogs in summer on the Costa del Maresme. Located between the train station and the port we have a space of 1500 square meters for dogs registered as pets of the City Council of Arenys de Mar.

The beach is composed of fine golden sand and is open from June 15 to September 16. As an exception, the beaches of Arenys de Mar accept dogs from 8 pm until 8 am.

It includes all basic services and maritime rescue.

Canine beach, in Pineda de Mar

Since 2017, the beach of Pineda de Mar has had a small fenced section for dogs during the summer months. It is located in front of the two campsites and, unlike La Concòrdia, dogs do not need to be registered in the municipality.

The enclosure has litter garbage cans and bags for excrement in case you forget them at home, as well as showers and rescue service.

Can Teixidor, in El Masnou

Perhaps this is one of the beaches with the most difficult access, since to reach the sand you will have to first pass through the rocks that function as a retaining wall and, in addition, it is located a little far away between the municipalities of Masnou and Montgat. Therefore, if you are looking for a place a little further away and quiet this is your place.

Depending on the tide, you can enjoy between 1.600m2 and 5.000m2 of sand, certainly more than enough space to play and bathe at ease with your furry.

Update: At this moment, summer 2024, the beach has the dog beach services cancelled due to the lack of sand produced by the last sea floods.

From June 1 until September 30, this beach in Mataró is enabled for dogs and people to enjoy a refreshing day at sea.

It is located next to the pier and dogs must be registered, in addition to wearing a microchip to register them at the entrance. The beach has a lifeguard service and the access hours are from 10-19h.

Platja Patins de Vela, in Badalona

This is one of the newest dog-friendly beaches, having opened last August. The Platja Patins de Vela stretch, with a capacity of only 60 people and 40 dogs, is located behind the Badalona municipal swimming pool and all animals attending must be microchipped.

The beach is a few meters from the train station and in the city center, making it the ideal choice if you want to cool off for a while and then go for an ice cream, stroll through the streets of the old town of Badalona or make a gastronomic getaway.

Along with Platja Patins de Vela, it is one of the most recent on the list, since it was inaugurated at the end of summer 2022. It ‘ s right in the center of Calella, so you won’t have to walk far in the sweltering summer heat, and you’ll also have amenities like bars and restaurants close by.

In the middle of Cap de Creus we find this dog beach next to the parking of the Platja Gran. It is a sandy area from where we can enjoy spectacular views of the village of white houses and picturesque . The delimited area is well signposted, so it will not be difficult to reach.
